"I am accustomed to sitting on the floor in the tea room, with the black vinyl record on the turntable spinning slowly, playing Ryuichi Sakamoto's music. The peaceful sound of the cello fills the space, and the light flickers through the tree shadows. The tatami mat releases its unique fragrance. Closing my eyes, I feel the southern breeze brushing by, and the meadow sways gently in the warm sunlight." This is my favorite moment of the day.

Feel the light, feel life. The overall layout of the house revolves around the "elegance of movement," and this elegance begins with the ease of life. We intentionally avoid using solid walls to separate the public areas, allowing the emptiness and Zen essence to flow into the space. Every movement path is naturally smooth, seamlessly connecting various functional areas. This design liberates one from the busyness of life and leads into a space filled with tranquility and harmony. The boundaries of each space are softened, and the movement flows like musical notes, giving life a simple yet profound beauty.

The volume that divides the entrance and public areas is actually the wine cabinet behind the island. Through functional integration, the designer makes it the first break in the space. The unsatisfactory configuration gives the visual a short stay, and through the blank design, people can feel the extension of the space and the penetration of light from the peripheral vision..

Knowing the value of light and scenery, no partitions or cabinets are planned in the entire public area, allowing light to pour in through the entire floor-to-ceiling windows. The sofa seats in the living room are deliberately facing outwards, echoing the designer's belief that people should not be enclosed in a house, but can interact naturally with the outside. The Japanese-style tea-making area at the end of the public area can be converted into a study or a tea room. It is a world where the male owner is obsessed with tea art. This area simplifies the traditional Japanese style of the Japanese-style room, retaining only oriental elements such as columns and tatami mats, and two elevated steps. Create a spatial hierarchy, and then inject some ritual into life by highly changing behaviors and moods. In addition, there are electric roller shutters hidden between the columns and the ceiling, which not only take advantage of the convenience of smart home appliances, but also have the advantage of being able to be closed and closed at will, giving residents the freedom to have privacy at times and enjoy the spacious exterior views at other times.

The rough brushstroke artwork on the side wall of the tea room embodies the Zen essence of the space and the power of nature. Each stroke not only captures the depth and flow of ink, but also brings a balance between stillness and movement within the space.

The Zen essence of emptiness extends into the dining area, where the design focuses on minimalist and natural elements. Through the clever reduction of space and the integration of plant landscaping, the essence of the Sen no Rikyū tea room is infused. Light gently filters through the gaps between the plants, filling the air with a natural fragrance. The dining area becomes not just a place for enjoying food, but a space for quiet reflection and experiencing Zen tranquility.

Unlike the ethereal feel of the daytime, the lighting at night creates a completely different warm atmosphere. The soft light illuminates the space, giving the entire environment a cozy and tranquil feeling. This interplay of light and shadow not only enhances the depth of the space but also offers the residents a completely different sensory experience, making each moment in the living space unique.

The round planter at the end of the hallway, placed next to the dressing room, serves as a visual focal point connecting the public and private areas. The plant stands quietly, seemingly injecting a sense of stability into the space without a sound.

The bedroom continues the design concept of the public spaces, emphasizing simplicity and stability to create a peaceful and undisturbed retreat. Every element here is centered around minimalism, removing unnecessary decorations to allow the space itself to bring a sense of calm. The color tones are gentle, and the materials are natural—whether it’s the wooden floors, soft bedding, or minimalist furniture—everything revolves around a core idea: to allow the resident to fully relax and escape the noise of the outside world.

I hope to translate the Zen image that exists in the mind into a tangible space through design, making it an integral part of the homeowner's daily life. This is not just about creating a space, but also about expressing an emotion. — Angelo Cho, Design Director of Studio Loriver.

The gentle breeze from the southern ranch blows softly, and I quietly stay here, feeling its tenderness.
